I recall years ago when Canada hiked cigarette taxes it led to a rash of smoke thefts, one memorably caught on a security camera: two guys come in, warn the cashier, then wrench down the full overhead cig rack and take off–they never even bothered with the register. Progress!

Ah, you must learn from Japan. It has national health and a 50% national tobacco company. A pack of good Japanese smokes, like Seven Stars, Peace, or Hope™, is just over $1. Are there lots of smokers in Japan? Indeed there are! Is the government torn between raising cigarette taxes to fund things but scared of losing smokers? Indeed they are!

There are no macros whatsoever in the sheets… The info is available on their website, no passwords required, I just wrote a little thing to automate looking them up

i have the entire DHHS email list in 2 Excel spreadsheets, (100,000+) if anybody wants to express your displeasure.

they are the govt agency in charge of S-CHIP. You have the right to petition the government to redress grievances, and these are .gov emails.

I’ll post it up if someone wants it. Names, Job titles, mailstops, phones, faxs, and emails.

On Glenn Beck’s radio show today, he said that in order for Obama to keep his campaign promise, smoker’s making under $250,000/yr. would have to be able to DEDUCT the COSTS of cigarettes on their TAXES!!!!

So keep your receipts SCHIP Supporter’s, well, unless you plan to join the Obama Administration as a Cabinet Appointee.

This is a great idea, and a chance for the Messiah to live up to his campaign promise.

On the Contact page it says, “Here is where you can contact us when you are out and about and discovered you forgot your cigarettes to show your support of the children. Never fear! Just drop us a line and we will rush you a new pack immediately.”

This is great, but there is no number to call or email link to use. Are people supposed to call 911, like they do when McDonald’s runs out of McNuggets? McNuggets don’t even support healthcare and, being without cigarettes is a much bigger emergency.

Or should people call the Whitehouse and ask for Obama when they run out of cigarettes? I would do both.

Two days ago I posted that my estimate of $10,000 cigarette heists had already been topped by a $90,000 heist.

I was wrong.

The news now reports that the Connecticut heist was at least ONE MILLION DOLLARS.

heh… and last week I was getting called crazy for talking about $10,000 robberies.

Those who will not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
