MISSION STATEMENT “To raise awareness of the need for millions of volunteers
who would like to be‘supporter’s of SCHIP’;
while encouraging current ‘supporter’s of SCHIP’ through information and forums.”
Why? Because the Obama Administration used the banner of fighting smoking to convince the public to give them a guaranteed slice of public tax money — for every year into perpetuity — to pay for the expanded SCHIP Program.
What’s wrong with that? They, the Obama Administration, knew that they could only get this legislation passed by taxing smokers. It was dishonest; they knew that the revenue projected would not be forthcoming from smokers, as the percentage of Americans who smoke has been declining for decades. Also, many smokers are not going to continue to smoke with ever increasing prices from taxes.
According to a report by the Heritage Foundation, the Democrats need 22.4 million new smokers by 2017 to fund SCHIP.
How will the Democrats get 22.4 million more people to smoke so that SCHIP will be funded? They have no intention to find new smokers; in fact, they are continuing to push greater restrictions on smoking in public, and in private places such as in restaurants and bars. Further, in some areas of the Country, they’ve tried to outlaw smoking in homes and private vehicles.
The real truth is this: Democrats are essentially criminalizing the source of funding, by virtue of its sale, of the SCHIP Program.
Isn’t it hypocritical to fund a Healthcare program through the sale of a product they believe is so harmful they’ve passed restrictions on the use of it? Absolutely! In fact, it is the most glaring example of hypocrisy we ever recall witnessing.
So what’s their plan when the tax on smokers doesn’t cover the SCHIP Program? Will they make cuts? No way! Remember, it’s “for the children!” What politician would sign that?! Their plan will be to ask everyone, which means YOU, to pick up the difference. They will say, “But you were all for it!! Don’t you care about the children?!” It will be a tough case to argue against. People will then realize that by supporting the punitive taxation of others, they left themselves open to increased taxation down the road.

So like, don’t smoker’s who are now funding this expanded SCHIP deserve a ‘Medal of Recognition’, or at least a thank you? Exactly! This is what SmokeForTheChildren.org is all about.
